7 Days of Smoothies: Day 5 Avocado and Mango Smoothie

Avocado, Mango and Spinach Breakfast SmoothieOkay, I will admit I know this smoothie doesn’t look very yummy, but it is, trust me guys! I accidentally absent-mindedly blended in the berries I was munching at the time, giving rise to this beautiful shade of brown, rather than the creamy avocado green it had been prior. Alas, not one to waste food, I figured I’d just take a picture anyway and you can just trust me that it is actually edible and good for you, and that it usually looks deliciously Shrek-green.

This smoothie is super-filling, so perfect for days when you need to get your breakfast quickly and on the go. It’s also absolutely delicious (okay have I convinced you yet?) and most ingredients you will have on hand anyway.


2 large handfuls spinach

1 frozen banana (optional to aid with spinach blending)

Half a ripe avocado

Half a mango, or half a can of tinned mangoes

Coconut water

Optional Blueberries and mixed berries to garnish (or to add in if you’re tolerant to drinking brown goo)


You know the drill, blend blend blend. If you’ve got a food processors from the eighties (à la moi!) then blend the spinach with some banana to help get it smoother and avoid those lovely bits that get attractively stuck in your teeth.
